Open for Animals is open to anyone who wants to learn more about animals and ways of helping them.
Open for Animals was founded in 2019 with the goal of bringing together the wider world of animal welfare and protection.
Across the world, there are millions of people who help animals in ordinary and extraordinary ways. Such a waste that divisions and echo chambers too often keep them apart, fracturing the bigger cause and isolating the public conversation.
At Open for Animals, expect stories about domestic companions, wild animals, farm animals, and working animals. Everything will be covered across the environment, politics, philosophy, science, agriculture, food, technology, business, medicine and health. Stories will provide reliable information and take a positive approach with the goal of helping animals.
We will review actions that animal advocates are taking and welfare outcomes around the world. We will celebrate positive outcomes and seek progress in animal issues. We will do this with critical thinking, reasoning, and evidence.
Open for Animals supports an open society. It is not explicitly vegan or vegetarian. If openness offends you, there are plenty of other pages, groups and organisations that are more closed.
Open for Animals is for progressive people who want to make the world better for everyone. It is not for people who are so bound up in dogmas that they cannot listen and discuss different ways of making this happen.
We aim to do our bit in reducing the suffering of animals by bringing together people who seek progress in animal issues. Open for Animals is a dogma, shame, and powerplay-free zone. There will be no ideological purity that needs protecting.
Instead, Open for Animals celebrates learning, exploring, developing our thinking and making good decisions in situations of moral uncertainty.
Open for Animals is open for animals. The best way of helping animals is by working together to do it.
